Shared Marrakech to Fes desert tour
Embark on a breathtaking journey through the Moroccan Sahara desert, connecting the two imperial cities on a shared Marrakech to Fes desert tour. To fully relish this desert safari, we recommend a minimum of three days. Covering a distance of 530 Km between Marrakech and Fes, you'll be enchanted by the ancient Kasbahs and picturesque Berber villages, and have the opportunity to meet the nomads along the way. As part of the tour, you'll spend a night in a Merzouga desert camp, where you'll enjoy your private room and tent on both nights. While this is a group tour, you'll have the privacy of your accommodations, sharing only the transportation from Marrakech to Fes. It's an adventure filled with mesmerizing landscapes and authentic experiences to cherish.
MARRAKECH – ATLAS MOUNTAINS – KASBAH AIT BEN HADOU – DADES VALLEY
Embark on an exhilarating tour through the eastern half of Morocco in the comfort of a modern air-conditioned minibus. Our knowledgeable guide will pick you up from your Marrakech hotel at 7.15 a.m. and accompany you to the departure point. As we traverse the majestic Atlas Mountain range, we'll descend into the captivating Kasbah at Ait Ben Haddou.
The Kasbah, boasting six structures within a walled city, is a place of marvel that transports you back in time to the days of gladiators, desert nomads, and ancient trading markets. After the guided tour, a delectable lunch will be served at the Kasbah in Ait Ben Haddou.
Continuing our adventure, our next destination on the first day will be Ouarzazate. Here, we'll be treated to the mesmerizing scenery of a city that has served as the backdrop for numerous blockbuster movies. Classics like The Mummy and Lawrence of Arabia are just a few examples of films that have found inspiration in this city, often referred to as "The Gateway to the Desert."
In this gateway city to the desert, we can take a break at a charming café before continuing our journey to the enchanting Dades Valley. Upon arrival, you can unwind and relax at a private guesthouse in Dades, complete with en-suite bathrooms. The culinary delights of a Moroccan evening dinner will be savored, adding to the overall delight of this extraordinary tour.
DADES VALLEY – TINGHIR – MERZOUGA – SAHARA DESERT
This incredible desert trip from Marrakech to Fes now leads us to the breathtaking landscape of the Todra Gorge. The area is well-maintained, with asphalt roads guiding tourists through this vast canyon. Here, you'll have the chance to witness rock climbers, catch glimpses of people attempting to see the cliff face's summit, and even witness occasional flooding from the Dades River.
After a satisfying lunch on the second day – and the choice of cafes is plentiful – we continue our journey towards our final destination, Merzouga. However, the most thrilling part of our desert adventure is yet to come.
Riding on camels through the golden sands of the desert feels like a scene from epic films such as Lawrence of Arabia. We'll mount dromedaries for the final leg of today's journey, heading towards the enchanting Berber desert camp.
While you have the option to walk alongside the guides, you'll soon discover that the camel ride is the easiest and most exciting way to experience desert travel. The journey through the Dunes of Erg Chebbi is a truly memorable and unforgettable experience.
MERZOUGA – MIDELT – IFRAN – FES
On the last day of our desert tour from Marrakech to Fes, our camels will carry us back to Merzouga. From there, we'll drive to one of the world's most pristine and captivating cities, Ifrane. Often referred to as "Little Switzerland" in Morocco, Ifrane is nestled high in the Atlas Mountains, and during winter, it is known to receive snowfall.
In Ifrane, you'll have the option to find a place to enjoy lunch, or depending on the schedule, we might stop over in the scenic Ziz Valley. This route offers an abundance of photographic opportunities and breathtaking landscapes.
Our modern air-conditioned minibus (or minivan for shared tours) will guide us through the captivating Ziz Valley. The journey will treat you to dramatic gorges, reddish gold dunes, and astonishing oases within the Tafilalt region. The lush canopy of palm trees flourishing from the cliff faces creates a truly spectacular sight, complementing the rose-tinted golden sandstone buildings and the winding gorges that traverse this picturesque valley.
As our fascinating adventure draws to a close, we'll travel the road to Fes, with a drop-off in this vibrant city around 5.00 or 6.00 p.m. You'll be delivered to your hotel or Fes riad, concluding our unforgettable journey.
